Long Range Impacts of Supreme Court Filibuster Fight

I was recently quoted in this piece on the confirmation of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Gorsuch.  My view of the end of the filibuster on nominations is that the filibuster previously served a purpose, and while ending it got immediate gratification for Republicans in the form of confirmation of Justice Gorsuch, long-term they may be kicking themselves.  There is no push for negotiation on nominees when the party in power controls the vote.  This may well be a problem on the next confirmation fight.
